Our First Snow

It’s our first snow of 2022 and it’s a real good one. We bundled up this morning to give hay to the animals. The cows and horses are fed and happy. The trees are heavy and weighing down fence lines.

This is when we enjoy the beauty of the snow and also pray that when the storm clears we are not out repairing fences. Down fences mean free animals… no bueno on a farm. Until the snow clears we’ll enjoy the white winter farm wonderland.

The Walnut Groves

This 2022 sap season we will be adding walnut trees to our tree tapping list. Although the maple trees produce a sweeter more lucrative amount of sap, walnut trees also produce sap which can also be made into syrup. At Winfall we plan to kick off our tapping season mid to late January. Mother Nature and weather determine our tapping schedule.

In our foraging on the farm we have found two walnut groves (small group of trees) on the farm. We look forward to adding these two areas to our tapping program this year.

Plan your trip to Winfall to tap trees and taste sap right out of the tree. Call Alex to plan your farm experience (804) 833-8303.

Welcome to Winfall Farm

Beef ~ Eggs ~ Flowers ~ Experiences

Est. 1986

Welcome to the Winfall Farm website. This is a new website and the launching on National Syrup Day (December 17th) is our way of letting you know about us and the maple sap collection and syrup production we are looking forward to and want you to be a part of in 2022.

We are excited to present our first 5K at the farm. Know that before we took up farming full time we were competitive athletes. A fun run/walk to us means a well marked trail with great scenery, good event swag, and option to pr with state of the art timing. Stay tuned for a link to register for the run/walk. In the meantime start telling all of your friends about the event and save the date. The QR code will be changed to the race entry form in the near future.
